AUSTRALIA
- Sydney: Chish n Fips - At Coogee Beach. This place has the cutest, most hilarious name I have come across. I know it's called chish and fips, but the fish sandwich was to die for.
- Sydney: Doyles - There are lots of great seafood options in this city, but this Doyles is inside the Sydney Fish Market, making it seem a little bit cooler and even fresher than the rest!
- Sydney: Guylian Belgian Chocolate Café - Everything was delicious! And this was the most delectable hot chocolate I have ever had!
- Sydney: Pancakes on the Rocks - Best. Pancakes. Ever.
- Sydney: Zaaffran - I have eaten Indian food in places all over the world (except India to be fair) and this stands as one of the best.
- Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada: 9 + Nine Chinese Cuisine - Fantastic Chinese food in a family style setting. Love.
- Toronto, Ontario, Canada: Pho Hung - A great big bowl of Vietnamese deliciousness at a great price.
- Toronto, Ontario, Canada: Panorama Lounge & Restaurant - Great place for tasty appetizers and drinks, although this place really isn't about the food...
- Vieux Montréal, Québec, Canada: L'usine de Spaghetti Parisienne - I love this place, the pasta I had was divine.
- Vieux Montréal, Québec, Canada: Montréal Poutine - Put it this way, I dream about this poutine.
- Vieux Québec, Québec, Canada: Le Casse Cou - The cutest little café along the cobblestone streets of Old Québec. You will have one of those I love travel moments here, I promise.
Honestly, I am from the Caribbean so I spend most of my time eating in homes which is truly the best place to eat...however, if you don't have that option, these are some great places too!
- Diego Martin, Trinidad: Joe's Pizza Steaks & Hoagies - Okay, I know the name doesn't say anything about burgers, but I think it's Joe's best kept secret. I try to have a Joe's burger as soon as I land, and at least again before I leave if not multiple times in between!
- Maracas Beach, Trinidad: Richard's Bake & Shark - If you leave Trinidad without trying this, you may as well not have gone. Period.
- Multiple Locations, Trinidad: Royal Castle - Residents of Trinidad will probably kill me for including this as it is not a representation of local fare. But if you are looking for a quick-better-than-KFC-with-a-Trini-touch type snack, this is your place.
- Store Bay Beach, Tobago: Miss Jean's - Try a roti (pronounced roh-tee) yummy.
- Dubai, UAE: Al Mallah - This Lebanese street café is so good that I ate there at least four times in a two week span even though Dubai is filled with fabulous food. Plus, the atmosphere is just so cool.
- Dubai, UAE: Shoo Fee Ma Fee - Such a cool place and strangely, more of a Moroccan experience than I had in Morocco!
- Dubai, UAE: Ushna - This place made me feel like I was in India, and the food was yummy.
- Everything, Ecuador: Unfortunately, I ate mostly in homes or at little restaurants down small streets, or in nooks and crannies of the country and don't have a clue what most of the names were. But just about everything I ate was amazing! And it was some of the most affordable food I have ever had. I ate almuerzos (lunch) and it was literally a four course meal: 1) Empanada 2) Soup 3) Rice, Meat & Plantain dish 4) Dessert and a fruit juice for $2.50!
- Baton Rouge, Louisiana: Rue Beignet - Big, delicious beignet! And talk about Southern hospitality...love the mother and daughter here, you can tell the beignets are made with love!
- Chicago, Illinois: Al's Beef - Yummy Italian beef sandwiches. Tasty with sweet and hot peppers, and please have the sandwich dipped.
- Houston, Texas: Barbeque Inn - BBQ in all its melty deliciousness, with an array of sides to choose from. Yum.
- New Orleans, Louisiana:
- Acme Oyster House - Don't even like oysters and they were good! Mmm...Seafood Etouffee!
- Mother's Restaurant - Never even knew what a Po' Boy was before this, but I think it was the best place to find out. The Famous Ferdi Special was great!
- Orlando, Florida: Pollo a la Braza Mario - Huge portions, full bellies, lots of happiness.
- Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: Pat's King of Steaks - So, there is a rivalry, and the two contenders are across a corner from one another so I suppose you will have to try Pat's as well as Geno's, which I also did. I promise you, Pat's is just a better cheesesteak. But read the sign and get the ordering down, you'd hate to look like a rookie. It's either a 'cheese wit' or a 'cheese witout.'
- San Juan, Puerto Rico:
- J Taste - The place was pretty, the sushi was pretty, and everything tasted great!
- La Barrachina - This is the birthplace of the Pina Colada. Look for Jorge the bartender who just seems to make the place and the drink even better than it already was.
- La Bombonera - I'd travel all the way to Puerto Rico just for another moment with a mallorca.
- Santa Fe, New Mexico: El Farol - Lots of tasty options, but the Green Chile Enchiladas were packed with flavor!
- Syracuse, New York: Big Mama's Cheesecakes - You just have to taste it.
- Washington, D.C.: Ben's Chili Bowl - Okay, this is really probably the best chili I've ever had–have to try a half-smoked. And I got to sit right where President Obama sat when he ate there!
- Southern States: Waffle House - I could swear by the scrambled eggs with cheese, the grilled chicken, and of course the fantastic waffle!
